Editing Product Attributes

In this video, you will learn how to edit one product at a time to update its eCommerce-related settings.

Search Criteria and Filtering

Click on Product Management, then Products.

Enter search criteria, such as a brand or description, to locate the item you want to edit, then click Search. You can also click on the Advanced tab to filter by a specific department, type, subtype, and other criteria.

eCommerce Website Classifications

Click on the pencil icon next to the item you want to edit, then click on the eCommerce Options tab.

Here, you can view the eCommerce-related settings and options. You can flag the item as Never to Sell on the Web, Prepare for Web, Sell on Web, or use vendor eCommerce data.

The Prepare for Web option is useful when one employee decides that a product should be sold online, while another employee is responsible for updating the product details. This flag also allows you to filter the Products list to display only items marked as Prepare for Web.

If you select Prepare for Web or Sell on Web, click on the Manage Web Classification button. The screen will open, allowing you to select or deselect the web classifications that apply to the product.

eCommerce Web Product Details

Click on the Set Web Product Details button. Here, you can define the product name displayed on the website, along with the long romantic copy, page title, meta description, meta tags, video, Google taxonomy, search keywords, and short romantic copy.

The Romantic Copy Long and Romantic Copy Short fields include an HTML editor with basic formatting options similar to those in Microsoft Word. For example, to bold or underline text, highlight the desired text and click on the appropriate icon.

You can also insert a table or image if needed. Once you have defined the web product details, click Save to return to the eCommerce Options tab, where you can configure additional settings as needed.

Product Shipping Specifications

Select Shippable Product to indicate that the product can be shipped.

In the Shipping Surcharge field, enter a dollar amount to be added to the shipping cost. The Ship Exempt option allows you to specify whether the product cannot be shipped to certain states from a predefined list.

For example, if you sell wine and cannot ship it to Alaska, you can configure the appropriate shipping exemption. You can also enter the product’s weight, length, width, and height to define its shipping specifications.

You can define up to three quantity discount levels, with each level offering a percentage discount, a dollar amount discount, or a new price.

Note that these settings apply only to the website and are not used by the point-of-sale system.

Loading Product Images

At the bottom of this screen, you can upload an image of the product.

Click Browse to locate and select the image you want to use. Verify that the correct image is displayed, then click Upload Image. When adding an image to an item, an image preview block shows how the selected image will appear within the allotted image size, allowing you to make adjustments if necessary.

If an image has already been uploaded and assigned to the item, click View Image to see the currently assigned image. To remove an image, click Remove Image.

Saving Newly Defined Product Data

Once you have configured all the eCommerce settings, scroll to the top and click Save to update the product record. You have now successfully updated the eCommerce-related settings for a single product.
